My Beliefs and Background

  • “Jenni Attie served as Interim Dean of Nursing during a critical transition period at North Central Michigan College.  Her absolutely clear-eyed compassion produced an uncanny ability to achieve short-term goals without losing sight of much longer-term objectives.  Her extensive clinical practice, combined with her capacity for deep, focused reflection enabled her to make both admission and staffing decisions that won the respect of her colleagues and resulted in one of the strongest cohorts of nurses the College has ever graduated.  Needless to say, our students loved her, and our community is safer, as a result of her careful attention.  I support her bid to join the Petoskey School Board without reservation; she is exactly the kind of leader our schools need now.”

Pete Olson, Ph.D., Provost Emeritus, North Central Michigan College

  • “Jen Attie is an intelligent, strong, and capable candidate.  I knew her first as a Board member of the Women’s Resource Center, where I had the opportunity to interact with her during her six year term. Currently, I work with Jen on another  community-based Board.  She has the capacity to be a strong leader, is open and thoughtful in her deliberations, asks good and probing questions about issues, and most importantly brings experience to this pursuit of seeking a spot on the Petoskey Public Schools Board of Education.  Having two children in the school system, her involvement as a parent, coupled with board experience, makes her an excellent candidate for this position.”

Janet Mancinelli, retired Executive Director of the Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan

  • "I first met Jenni Attie when she hired me as Director and Lead teacher at the Petoskey Children’s Nursery preschool. She was the board president and oversaw the workings of the school. I came in with little knowledge of how to run a preschool and Jenni was supportive, nurturing and very efficient. She cared very deeply about the health and success of the school and did all she could to ensure it would thrive. Her commitment and dedication to quality education, at all ages, is evident throughout her life’s work. "

Ann Stebelton, Director and Lead Teacher at Petoskey Children’s Nature Preschool (PCN)

  • "I have known Jenni since 2018, when she participated in the Michigan Political Leadership Program, a year-long bipartisan political leadership with a 25+ year track record of training elected officials on both sides of the aisle who are united in their desire to provide policy-driven, common sense leadership to help Michigan solve problems around education, our economy, our health and our environment. Jenni is a person who really listens to others and is eager to engage in policy development. She understands how to make things happen among a diverse group of different interests, which is so critical in our state where bitter partisan forces seek to divide us."

Steve Tobocman, previous co-director of MPLP and executive director of Global Detroit

  • "As a fellow health care professional and parent, I've been privileged to work alongside Jenni in various roles and to witness her thoughtful demeanor, her steadfast work ethic, and constant professionalism in action. Jenni is a dedicated leader who pours her heart into her work. Jenni's experience as a nurse practitioner, her previous board leadership, and her vested interest as a fellow parent make her an excellent choice for Petoskey Schools."
